Naive Realism causes us to think that our points are valid and those of the other person invalid, or that we are sincere and the other person stonewalled or tried to score debating points rather than engage in an honest interchange. This encourages the belief that we will be able to convince reasonable individuals who disagree with us if only they would sit down and talk. This is a wrong because we cannot simply assume that we are right from the onset.
